N.S.F.L HEADING TO HAWAI'I!
Honolulu, Hawai'i: The National Spring Football League will be coming to the Islands in 2023.
The N.S.F.L has announced the approval of the Seattle franchise request for relocation to Honolulu for the 2023 N.S.F.L season. It will mark the first pro football franchise to be located in Hawai'i since the Hawaiians of the World Football League of the 70's.
A team spokesperson said that the team will play its home games at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu. Owner Reggie Everton said in a prepared statement: " We are beyond excited to announce that we will be bringing professional football back to the great state of Hawai'i and Aloha Stadium. We look forward to bringing our exciting brand of football to the fan base of Honolulu and the surrounding areas."
With the expected return of the XFL to Seattle in 2023 and the popularity of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks. The N.S.F.L franchise in Seattle decided that in would be in the best interest financially for the team to make the move to Hawai'i. The Seattle Fury played one season in Seattle in 2022 after originally wanting to play in Honolulu. But talks with Aloha Stadium officials were slow and tedious and the organization decided to locate to Seattle and stumbled through the season at 2-14.
After the Fury's season ended, the franchise put its request for relocation with the N.S.F.L league office as a deal was finally worked out with Aloha Stadium and Hawai'i officials was finally completed.
No word on any coaching changes. But the team has reportedly given former Texas A&M quarterback John Manziel an extensive $3.2 mil contract over 2 years. Manziel is expected to be the franchises starting quarterback for 2023, though no official word has been given by team officials on the matter.
The team has announced that the franchise will be branded as the " Hawai'i Volcanoes " and revealed the teams helmet and Logo.
